Choosing a herdsire is a decision that will have long-term effects on your cowherd. We've used a
few bulls over the years that have had a marked influence on our herd, passing on many
desirable traits. B&M Benji's Lad is a prime example — moderate framed with strong
maternal and milk numbers, thick with sound feet and legs, and a great temperament to boot!
He produced lots of good females whose progeny span many generations in our herd.
We use the occasional A.I. bull that we feel has something to contribute — such as Rio Blanco, a great performance bull, or Winn Mans Original, a low-birthweight, easy calving bull for heifers.
In 2007, we purchased Sparrows Coach (Alcatrez). His calves have impressed us big time — easy calving, great performance, thick and sound, good hair and termperaments. Both our bull and heifer yards present uniform groups of appealing young cattle.
They have proven themselves in performance testing, in the show ring and in the pasture.

Semen from this tremendous bull will be available from Genex. He carries powerful genetics on both sides of his pedigree — his sire, Sparrows Coach, has given us thick, eye-appealing, easy-doing progeny with good hair and nice temperaments. On the dam side he goes back to Benji's Lad, a great maternal sire who left a mark on our cows' milk and fertility. Xcalibre has exceptional muscle, length and style. He strides out on an excellent set of feet and legs. He's DNA-tested homozygous polled. He's docile.
